NaNoWriMo Diary – Days 8 & 9

Hey guys, two days into Week 2 of NaNoWriMo where people are starting to feel the strain. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

Word Count

Day 8 : 958

Day 9 : 753

Total Word Count : 9,707

It’s been a lacklustre couple of days for me, really. Thanks to life and lack of sleep, I haven’t managed to hit the mark at all.

Creating the relationship between my two main characters for Powerful Minds has been trickier than I thought, because I’ve had to decide on what I believe to be an entertaining chapter on its own as well as set up later events. I’m effectively free writing at this point, with only an inkling of what’s happening next and venturing off into a creative wilderness. It’s one of those ‘you vs. you’ moments when you have to conquer yourself without beating yourself up at all, and that’s a fine line to tread for someone like me.

So I’ve had to take all the positives that I could: I’m only a measly 293 words away from getting to five digits, and with two days off earlier this month, my writing average per day is still just under 1,400 words. My total word count for my manuscript is coming up to 30,000 words and I could be adding another 10,000 to that very soon.

I think it’s time to switch off for tonight, socialise for a bit, have a read (I’m reading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury atm) and get some shut-eye for tomorrow morning, where I plan to at least get over 1,000 words. There’s a lot of people feeling the strain at the moment, so I hope that I can boost my own word count and find a way to extract more from myself to boost other people’s spirits too.

Anyway, that’s enough from me tonight.

How are your projects coming along! Be sure to follow my blog and let me know in the comments section!

Have a nice evening! Bye!
